CEI conducted a facility wide assessment and pond remediation activities at FLETC, Gynco, GA. The delineation soil sampling program was conducted in advance of soil excavation activities to identify the initial limits of excavation within the pond. Subsequently, sediment was removed from the pond areas by hydraulic dredge. The dredge was performed and were sediments collected and transported to the staging area where two 30-feet wide geotextile dewatering tubes were connected so that sediments would be effectively dewatered. A 2% solution of Biostar-CH, a natural bio-polymer, was injected into the dredged sediment stream to facilitate the dewatering process. Excavated sediments were then sifted by placing the excavated material into a Turbo Commander Screening/Lead Reclamation Equipment. The lead shot was eventually conveyed to a roll off for recycling. Stabilized soils were loaded into trucks and transported off site for disposal in a Subtitled D land disposal facility.
